Asus India launches flagship Zenfone 2 smartphone starting at Rs 12,999



Today, Asus India launched the successor to their much-loved Zenfone range in the Asus Zenfone 2. Priced Rs 12,999 onwards, the Zenfone 2 improves on every aspect and is also the first phone in the world to feature 64-bit dual channel 4GB RAM.

Asus will be launching two models of the Zenfone 2, The flagship model (ZE551ML) that features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display and is powered by 2.3 GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor, PowerVR G6430 GPU and 4GB dual channel RAM. Will be priced at Rs22,999 for 64GB storage and Rs 19,999 for 32GB storage. 

The second variant of Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML) comes with a 5.5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, runs on 1.8Ghz quad core Intel Atom processor and 2GB RAM and is priced at Rs 12,999. The fourth variant is for Rs 14,999 and comes with a full HD display, 1.8 GHz quad core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.

Other common hardware specifications include, microSD slot for expansion (up to 64GB supported), dual SIM with dual active and a 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity is taken care of with 4G, WiFi, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The phones come with Android 5.0 and run a new version of the Asus ZenUI that Asus claims has over 1000 enhancements. For camera enthusiasts, the Zenfone 2 has a 13MP camera with f2.0 aperture and a dual tone LED flash. It uses Asus's proprietary pixelmaster 2.0 technology that automatically adjusts the maximum contrast ratio of the image for improved photographs in any scenario. The front 5MP camera also has a f2.0 aperture with 85 degree wide angel lens.
