Google has had a busy day rolling out the Android 5.1.1 build to a few stock Android Nexus devices. Some of the phones and tablets received an OTA update and also had the Android 5.1.1 factory image posted. The latter is used by those who have customized their phone or tablet and want to return quickly to the latest Android build. This is accomplished by flashing the most recent factory image on the device. Receiving both the OTA update to Android 5.1.1, and the factory image for the same build today, are the N exus 4  and Nexus 5  handsets. Both models were manufactured by LG. Also today, the HTC-built Nexus 9   tablet (LTE version) received the Android 5.1.1 OTA update and the 5.1.1 factory image. And wait, there's more. Samsung Denmark's website is now revealing that the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini  (SM-G800) will be receiving an update to Android 5.0.1. The handset is currently running Android 4.4.2. The update actually takes the less-spec'd mini version of Samsung's last generation flagship phone, to a slightly higher build than the Android 5.0 version. The update includes the Material Design of Android 5.0, Lock Screen notifications, the 64-bit ART compiler that opens apps faster, Project Volta for improved battery life, Quick Settings pull-down shade from any page, new Recent Apps menu and more. The Samsung Galaxy S5 mini features a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280. That works out to a pixel density of 326ppi. Powering the device is the Samsung Exynos 3470 SoC which features a quad-core 1.4GHz CPU and the Mali 400MP4 GPU. 1.5GB of RAM is inside with 16GB of native storage. Starting on Monday and running through Wednesday, Motorola is having its annual Spring Sale which means it will be offering discounts on popular models like the N exus 6 , the second-generation Motorola Moto X , and the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch. The specifications and images of an upcoming Redmi phone have surfaced. The smartphone is being developed under the codename Hermes and will have Xiaomi H3Y as the model number.  As per the leak by Twitter user @upleaks, the device will sport a Full HD display (1920x1080p), but there is no word on the screen size. The smartphone is also said to have 2GB or 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory.  Powered by a MediaTek MT6795 64-bit octa-core, the smartphone is expected to sport a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.

The IPhone models might fool you for a second that they are not up to par with the best other phones can offer, as Android flagships now ship with 16 MP, or even 20 MP cameras. Resolution is only a small part of it, though, as every photographer will tell you, and as our camera comparisons have continuously shown.  Still, Apple is allegedly willing to enter the world of double-digit camera resolutions,and today Kevin Wong, the CEO of IHS China, confirmed this again, shedding some more light on the matter. The research firm head reiterates that Apple will indeed be using 12MP cameras for the upcoming iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, but there's a fly in that honey. Amazon has a new "Free App of the Day" bundle available today, with 38 paid apps and games worth $110 (approximately Rs 7,000) available for free until Sunday 12:30 pm IST. The bundle is a regular deal from the Amazon Apstore, so make sure you get it while it's hot. You'll need to download and install the Amazon Appstore for Android, to be able to download any of the apps on offer. Remember, you're going to have to check mark the "Allow Unknown Sources" option in your settings to download the Appstore and any other of the apps. Indian on-line retailer Flipkart is obviously expecting the third-generation Motorola Moto G to be available soon. A page has already been put up for the next iteration of the Moto G, which is expected to come with the model number AP3560AD1K8. While there is no image of the phone connected to the listing at this time, the color shown is "white." The only spec listed is the native storage which weighs in at 8GB. Rumored specs include a 5-inch or 5.2-inch display carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The 64-bit Snapdragon 610 SoC is rumored to be under the hood, and it includes a quad-core 1.7GHz CPU and the Adreno 405 GPU. 2GB of RAM is said to be inside and there should be support for 4G LTE connectivity. The Australian operator Telstra posted a list of Sony Xperia Z phones scheduled to get Android 5.1 Lollipop. Sony has been pushing out  Android 5.0 to its Xperia Z series of smartphones since March. The list includes the likes of Sony Xperia Z, Xperia Z1, and Z1 compact. The trio is part of the tech giant’s 2013 smartphone lineup. A "showstopper issue" was spotted this month, thus causing the update to be paused. Telstra have not specifically talked about the bug, though it can easily be apreviously reported memory leak issue. After Android Lollipop, Google is likely to unveil the next version of its popular operating system, dubbed Android M, at its annual developers conference this year. Google released the schedule for its Google I/O 2015 and in all likelihood, the search giant could be previewing Android M at the two-day event scheduled from May 28. The Next Web reports that Google hasn't officially announced the next version of Android, but a reference was spotted under the Android for Work Update Session as per its schedule. "Android M is bringing the power of Android to all kinds of workplaces. This opens huge new markets for hundreds of millions of devices to workers at small business, deskless workers, logistics and warehousing jobs; all be empowered by adoption of Android devices at Work." Motorola has posted release notes for the update. The models covered by these notes not only include the first two generations of the Moto X, it also includes the Moto X Pure Edition. This is the unlocked version of the second-gen Moto X. Since the first-generation Motorola Moto X is still at Android 4.4.4, the update to Android 5.1 is also going to include many of the features that other phones received with the Android 5.0 update. This includes the Material Design look, Lock Screen notifications, the new Recent Apps page, a new flashlight which is part of the quick settings menu, support for multiple users, data showing estimated battery life remaining, and a new battery saver mode that will reduce performance and shutdown background processes in order to extend battery life. Google released the Android distribution stats for the month of April. Unsurprisingly, the share of Android 5.0 and up has grown considerably - an iteration of Lollipop boots on almost 10% of all hardware. Android 5.0 is now present on 9% of all devices - up from 5% a month ago The newer Android 5.1 Lollipop has a share of 0.7% as opposed to 0.4% back in March. The distribution gains of Android Lollipop have come mostly at the expense of KitKat. Android 4.4 has dipped to 39.8% - down from 41.4% last month. Android Jelly Bean and its various flavors have barely dropped their distribution share in April. combined, the outdated versions run on almost 40% of all Android devices out there. Introduced in 2011, Android Ice Cream Sandwich can still be found on 5.3% of all devices. Even more surprisingly, Android 2.3 Gingerbread refuses to go away. The five-year old build is still present on 5.7% of all Android hardware.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 egde are the first two smartphones that are compatible with Samsung Pay, a mobile payment service that combines NFC connectivity with a proprietary Samsung technology called Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). However, although the Galaxy S6 series comes with Samsung Pay support, the mobile payment service has yet to be launched. When unveiling Samsung Pay back at MWC 2015.he company said that the service will launch this summer, and it looks like a Samsung executive reconfirmed the estimated launch date a couple of days ago. According to Park Jin-Young, Managing Director over at Samsung Electronics, Samsung Pay will be launched in the second half of 2015, with the United States and Samsung's home market of South Korea being the first two countries to get the new mobile payment service. Asus has announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its Zenfone devices. The updates are expected to roll out beginning May. The first device expected to get the update is the Zenfone 5 LTE(A500KL), which will be getting the update in the beginning of May. With the update, the devices will get changes in Material Design, user interface, notifications etc. There will also be a battery saver feature, new quick settings, and an overall smoother and more powerful experience with ART(Android Runtime). The update also brings the option to create several separate user profiles, screen pinning, and a kids mode.      Whereas, two other devices, the Zenfone 4 (A400CG/A450CG), Zenfone 5(A500CG), and the Zenfone 6(A600CG) will get the update in the middle of May. If you need mobile with large display here it is the new Windows mobile with arge 7 inch display.Earlier before Nokia Lumia 1520  and Nokia Lumia 1320 , both offering displays measuring 6 inches, and being a bit too big for quite many customers. Still, in case someone needs a WP device that's even larger, a little-known Chinese company called Ramos has made one.  Dubbed Ramos Q7, the device that we're talking about (pictured above) was recently showcased in Hong Kong. It runs Windows Phone 8.1, and sports a massive 7-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels. Verizon is getting ready to update its Galaxy S4 . The new update from Verizon will update the software to build number LRX22C.I545VRUGOC1. With the Galaxy S4  launched more than a couple of years ago, it's nice to see that the two largest US carriers are updating the handset to the latest  major  version of Android.  The update will be gradually rolled out to Verizon customers rocking the Samsung Galaxy S4, so it may be a while before getting your Lollipop fix. Your phone will notify you when the update is available for your device, but if you're feeling impatient, you can manually check for updates by going to Settings -> About Device -> Software Update -> Check for Updates. Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC is preparing to launch a handset made for India in the third quarter of this fiscal even as it considers manufacturing mobile phones in the country, underling the importance of the high-growth domestic market which is becoming a top priority for global brands such as Xiaomi and Samsung. "We have a third-quarter plan for our global launch in India to introduce a device which is specifically designed for the Indian consumer," Chia-Lin Chang, president of global sales and chief financial officer of HTC told ET. He added that India will be the test bed for the device that the company will later launch in other markets across the globe. HTC's handset will be priced at Rs 15,000-20,000, a range that has been a growth segment for the company for the past one year, according to Chang. NOKIA sutts all rumors about it's re-enter in to smartphone industry in 2016.An officoial given statement on it. "Nokia notes recent news reports claiming the company communicated an intention to manufacture consumer handsets out of a R&D facility in China. These reports are false, and include comments incorrectly attributed to a Nokia Networks executive. Nokia reiterates it currently has no plans to manufacture or sell consumer handsets". The above statement is as straightforward as it is concise. It is worth noting that, under the terms of its deal with Microsoft, Nokia isn’t allowed to launch any phone bearing its name until the second half of next year.

The rivalry between Apple and Google will certainly remain one of the most heated ones in the tech world for some time. Both giants regularly takes light (and sometimes not so light) jabs at one another - in one of Apple's 2014 keynotes, Tim Cook referred to Google's Android as  "toxic hellstew of vulnerabilities" , while Google has also mentioned Apple a few times in its announcement events. Well, the rivalry took an unexpected and not-so-mature turn - the folks over at TeamAndroid have stumbled upon something pretty curious on Google Maps. If you navigate to the outskirts Rawalpindi, a large city in northern Pakistan, you'll come across an Android logo urinating over Apple's logo. The Lenovo K80, the new handset will directly compete with the Asus ZenFone 2 not just because it offers 4 GB of RAM, but also because its price and other features are relatively similar to those of Asus' smartphone (which is already available in select markers, including China).  The K80 runs Android Lollipop, sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. The handset also offers LTE, a 13 MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization, 64 GB of storage space, and a very generous 4000 mAh battery. The K80 is 8.5mm-thin, and comes in various color variants, including black, silver, and red.  Starting April 30, the Lenovo K80 will be available in China for 1,799 CNY ($290). A model with only 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage space will also be released (for 1,499 CNY - about $240). We don't know if Lenovo is planning to launch the K80 in other markets. Source: PA

At the end of March,Sony promised  that it would bring Android 5.0 Lollipop to two of its mid-range smartphones that were introduced in 2014: the Xperia C3  and the Xperia T2 Ultra  Well, the update is rolling out now in phases, which means that owners of the two handsets should be able to get rid of KitKat and replace it with Lollipop starting today. Of course, depending on their location, some users might (and probably will) receive the update a bit later than today. But that's how things go with over-the-air updates anyway.  In addition to delivering great news for those rocking an Xperia C3 or Xperia T2 Ultra, Sony also mentioned that, in the coming weeks, more Xperia Z  models would receive Android Lollipop (the original Xperia Z from early 2013 is included here).
