Motorola skipping Android 5.0.2, going directly to Android 5.1 for first-gen Moto devices

The Android SDK Manager has a welcome new visitor in Android 5.1.1. This could quite possibly be one of the most eagerly awaited Android builds of some time. Unfortunately, the underlying demand for this update has nothing to do with aesthetics or performance. It has to do with a memory leak that has afflicted some Android users since the Android 5.0.1 update.

Google has acknowledged that the leak existed, but also posted that the necessary repairs had been made. Google did not have everything ready to go for Android 5.1, which is why the Android 5.1.1 update is so important to many Android users. After all, who wants to see the amount of available RAM on their handset drop sharply for no apparent reason? We might also see the addition of a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which would allow users to tap into a Wi-Fi network to communicate over a Google owned VPN. This would give more privacy to some Android users.

The Apple Watch is here! Kind of. Pre-orders are now open online, which is honestly not as exciting as waiting in line for days in anticipation of the next big thing. However, the actual watches will take weeks, and for most people more than a month to arrive, as shipping times are surprisingly long. Apple Watch Sport ships in June (!)
